Applying to schools
Admissions process and requirements
Is US College Tennis Right for you?
The US college pathway may be worth exploring if your player:
Loves competing and wants to continue playing tennis in university
Wants to experience another country and study overseas
Is interested in combining academics and high-level tennis
Is motivated to develop their game over the next 2–4 years
You don't need to have everything figured out!
The earlier you start exploring your options, the more time you have to understand the different pathways and prepare yourself as a player, student and prospective college athlete.
The Pathway
1. Consultation
A free initial consultation with the player and their family to understand where the player is at, in terms of age, ability and goals. We would recomend their options based on what colleges and programs the player could get into based on projected UTRs and GPAs.
2. Exploring options
We would provide education on the US College system, explaining the different college divisions, levels, scholarships, academic requirements and what type of university and personal environment could suit you. Additionally, we would explore what type of university would suit you best based on its location, campus size, facilities and culture.
Finances are an important part of US College placement, and so we would recommend the best option to finance your studies, whether that is through:
Athletic Scholarships
Academic Scholarships
NZ based Scholarships
NZ based loans
3. Developing your tennis and academics
Continue developing your tennis, through tournament plans and competition experience, that aim to build a strong UTR/ranking profile. Alongside this, we would also recommend the subjects and credits to take to build your academic record, to be eligible for US colleges.
4. Preparing your application
We would organise your college application video, player profile and recruitment requirements which are used towards your college enrolment and getting signed to a tennis programme.
5. Connecting with coaches
Beginning connecting with college coaches at suitable universities, spanning multiple division levels to build a wide network of coaches for your player.
6. Recruitment and check-ins
We would aid in navigating offers and scholarships from universities whilst keeping in touch and tracking how your tennis and academics are progressing.
7. Commiting to a University
The final part is helping you select the university that provides you with the best fit for your tennis, academics and personal goals. We would help you to prepare for your travels to the US when it is time to leave for college.
